The Simple Things in Life.....

I feel like I have been saying "It's been a while..." or "Long time no talk..." in all my blog posts lately but here it is again....... It's been a while! We have started shooting our catalog (for my dad's company) & I have been working 30+ hours a week. Plus, any working mom knows that just because you clocked out of work doesn't mean you get to go home, grab take out, & watch t.v. all night long.... You walk through the door & clock into your mommy/wife job.... and you are expected to do it with a smile... Some days it harder than others but you just do it. I have A LOT of respect for working moms. Props. I couldn't do it year around. Lucky, I have a WONDERFUL manny... Heehee, been wanting to use that word! It's actually my wonderful, younger brother in law. He is UH-MAZING with the kids & they love him. In fact, I had last Friday off & when the kids woke up they were NOT excited to see me... First thing out of my oldest's mouth was, "Where's Uncle Deek?!!" I was a little sad but I guess i'm just not as fun... I'll take it. :) Anyways, I missed blogging... Can you tell?! I can't stop talking, err I mean I can't stop typing. The title of this post is "The Simple Things in Life." I got inspired... My husband prolly just thought, "GREAT, What now?!" I was walking in Target today with my two, beautiful, misbehaving daughters & I walked by some BEAUTIFUL, bright, simple kitchen additions. Originally, when my husband & I got married our kitchen was black & red... Cute, but so not summery or springy. So, over the years I added some greens & yellows here & there. So I was super excited when I saw this red, orange, & yellow stripped mat & kitchen towels. I walked by them & said no, I don't need it but then went back because I thought I deserve it!  So, I wanted to inspire you too! I added these two, small, inexpensive (yes, babe you can take a sigh of relief), pieces to my kitchen & I feel like a whole new woman! I was so excited that I had to blog about it because it is the simple things in life that make us happy. Here is a picture of my new items.... Hope that I was able to inspire you to reward yourself whether it is a small addition to your kitchen or a yummy piece of pie! You DESERVE it, YES, you!

Until Next Time--

Aloha, I'm exhausted!

I thought that you are suppose to feel relaxed & ready to start going after vacation?! I just can't get myself out of vacation mode..... I keep finding myself saying, "What, I have to do laundry, clean the house, & make my bed?!" Ugh, I just can't shake this funk. Anyways, we found out before we went to Hawaii that my grandma has cancer & they are bringing in hospice so we planned a trip out to Arizona to visit her. So, I am leaving tomorrow with the kids & my wonderful sister in law & my husband is going to meet us out there for the weekend! Maybe that's why I can't get out of vacation mode, because I have already prepared myself to go out of town again. Maybe, maybe not. Anyways, I have a large order that I have been working on but I wanted to check in & say hi! Hope everyone is enjoying summer so far! Here's a quick sneak peak of our vacation......

Cupcake Fondue?! Anything with the word 'fondue' has my attention.......

SERIOUSLY, It doesn't get any better than this! Ok, one word: YUM! This recipe & idea looks AH-mazing! I am so doing this after vacation.... Enjoy!

Brought to you by Pizzazzerie...Click here to see her blog with more pics!

Recipe:

cupcake fondue

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup liquid (orange juice, fruit juice, milk, or water)
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
Miniature-size cupcakes in the flavor of your choice, cooled and unfrosted
Assorted sprinkles, chopped nuts, and other toppings
1.Make a batch of your favorite mini cupcakes – homemade or from a mix. Make them nice and small so you don’t feel guilty about enjoying 2 or 3 of them. If you use paper liners for baking, remove them after the cupcakes have cooled. Pound cake or any other firm cake works well for skewering, but any cake will do. I used a simple yellow box-mix cake. Allow to cool completely before dipping.
2. Make the fondue: Whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and corn syrup.  Adjust the consistency with a drop of liquid or a dash more powdered sugar until you get have a smooth, thick glaze.  I used orange juice for the liquid portion to give it a citrus flavor and cheese-like yellow fondue color.  You could also use grape juice for a pastel purple, or milk/water and add your own coloring.
3. Pour frosting into the fondue pot.  There’s really no need to heat the mixture, but you can keep a small tea light or very low flame underneath just for looks!  Display sprinkles and toppings in small ramekins or portion cups and arrange around the fondue pot.  Skewer cupcakes in the side and dip the top half into the fondue, then flip the cupcake over and the frosting will drip nicely down the sides.  Sprinkle liberally with your favorite toppings.

Super Cute Winnie the Pooh Dessert Table!!

Another Super Cute Idea! I like Winnie the Pooh but I also don't like doing parties that have character plates, character table clothes, etc. This is such a cute way to do a character that is very classy! Love this! Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!!

Happy Fairy Birthday Party

Ok, ok, it took me a few weeks to get this birthday party blogged.... May is one of the craziest months of the year. So, I left my house a mess & laundry everywhere to visit the cyber world to blog about my daughter's 3rd birthday party (& I'm pretty sure that is a run on sentence, but it gets the point across). So, here we go!

I am normally completely prepared & done a week before the party but for some reason I wasn't able to get into the party planning mode this year. I had been purchasing things here & there for the party when things went on sale or when I saw cute things at dollar tree. To get myself motivated I set up a table, about a week before the party, on a card table in my garage. It actually worked really well because every time I went by the garage I thought about what I needed to do next for the party.

A really cute idea I came up with (well I probably didn't invent but it was new to me) was the way I wrapped the silverware. I had bought ribbon to do the traditional curly ribbon around the silverware but when I started I wasn't liking the look of it. So, I had found a stamp set of Tinkerbell at dollar tree & didn't really know what I was going to do with it. I decided to stamp it onto white scrap booking paper & cut into strips to glue around the wrapped silverware. It turned out sooooo cute!!  I will definitely be doing this from now on! Loved the way it turned out!

Another easy (fairly inexpensive) addition to the party was buying printables from an etsy shop. You purchase the printable that you like & they seller sends you the images so you can get them printed at a printer like Kinkos or print them at your house. I printed them at home & only used a fraction of what was included. I used http://www.etsy.com/listing/69552821/fairy-garden-printable-party-decor.
Super cute & it matched perfectly. My only complaint with this was the color printed differently then it looked on the screen but other than that it was a cute addition.
I also found some really cute crystal stickers in the dollar bin at Micheal's. They worked out perfectly for adding a little special touch.

My best friend, her mother in law, & I sewed these super cute Peter Pan hats. They were really simple & turned out super cute! They went perfectly with the glow in the dark swords I purchased at Dollar Tree. I also made some simple flower headbands for the little fairies & purchased glow in the dark wands from Dollar Tree as well. Those were the biggest hit!

Here are a few more pictures of everything else! I scored some AMAZING deals! I purchase almost everything through Dollar Tree & Micheal's dollar bins. Hope you enjoy & that I inspire you to be creative with what you have!

Birthday Fairy

Yay! It was such a fun day & wasn't too stressful! Now, off to work on more headbands......

Until Next Time--

Still. Alive.

So, it has been kinda crazy around here! After Easter, we went into party mode. May is one of the craziest months of the year & even more crazy this year. YES, I am still alive....very tired, but alive. I have been working on a few new flower creation & plan on taking pictures of them if the rain lets up by tomorrow! Also, cannot wait to blog about the fairy birthday party I just threw my daughter this past weekend! It was so fun (& not as stressful as normal)! I will get that blogged by the end of the week! PROMISE! Hope everyone is doing well & enjoying the bipolar weather we are having! I know that I sure am! <3
